How We Work
Exterior environments are complex undertakings involving architecture, landscape, craft and logistics. The Exterior Decorator works within the established project team to bring clarity, specification and disciplined execution to the furnishing of exterior rooms.
Each commission is structured to suit the needs of the client and project team.
Stage 1 — Consultation & Site Review
We review the architecture, landscape intent and interior relationships. This may be conducted on site or virtually, depending on project stage and location.
Stage 2 — Concept & Specification
We prepare a proposal outlining furnishing concepts, material direction, budget ranges, logistics considerations and anticipated lead times.
Stage 3 — Procurement & Coordination
Upon approval, we coordinate with manufacturers and specialist suppliers. We may procure directly or assist the appointed party with specification and vendor coordination.
Stage 4 — Delivery & Installation
We oversee delivery, placement and final adjustments to ensure alignment with the design intent.
Stage 5 — Ongoing Stewardship
Exterior environments evolve. We remain available for seasonal review, additions and refinement.
Collaboration with Designers and Architects
The Exterior Decorator is typically engaged either:
• Directly by the end client, in collaboration with the architect or landscape architect
or
• By the design professional as part of the project team
We adapt our engagement structure to suit the contractual framework of each project.
In all cases, specification decisions are developed collaboratively and transparently.
Engagement Structure
Fees are structured according to scope and complexity and are outlined in a formal letter of engagement following initial consultation.
